Great Balloon Takes Flight at Night

Irvine California Before being closed by the FAA for alleged safety violations the great balloon ride took thousands of people for a 500 foot high view of the Irvine Valley. After a through inspection no problems turned up and the ride is now back in operation with added night rides from 7-10 pm Thursday through Sunday. All rides are free and you can also check out the new preview park surrounding the balloon take off area. Directions; exit the 5 freeway at Sand Canyon and enter the old El Toro base on Marine Way. follow the signs to the great balloon. Irvine California.

Cabrillo National Monument San Diego

Located at the tip of Point Loma in San Diego this 160 acre parks has some of the best views you will find anywhere along the west coast. The statue of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo is just one part of this national park. Visitors can take a guided tour of the Point Loma Light House or hike down to the shore and view tide pools. Admission is only five dollars a bargain price for any San Diego attraction.

Point Mugu State Park

Point Mugu State Park is north of Malibu and is the largest preserved area in the Santa Monica Mountains. Along the beach are rocky outcrops and tide pools inland there are miles of trails to explore. The Mugu Rock (picture above) is not a natural feature but was formed when Pacific Coast Highway was cut through the mountain. The park is a popular place for viewing birds, marine mammals, and wildflowers and provides about 15,000 acres of preserved coastal land. Camping is permitted in two campgrounds Thornhill Broome Campground, on the beach and Sycamore Canyon Campground inland. Point Mugu State Park is 15 miles south of Oxnard on Highway One 9000 W. Pacific Coast Highway Malibu, CA 90265.
